The Increase of Orphans Worldwide: How Will You Respond?

“COVID-19 and its many ripple effects have done great harm to families worldwide. This tragedy brings both an immense challenge and an immense opportunity. The local church in every nation has both the calling and the community capable of making a world of difference — restoring broken families, strengthening struggling families, and welcoming children into new families whenever needed.” CAFO President, Jedd Medefind (www.cafo.org)

As CCTI has been reporting over the last year and a half, the effects of the COVID pandemic are creating more problems and trauma than just physically surviving the virus. Due to children already living with grandparents for varying reasons before the virus, many of them are now losing their beloved guardians since the elderly are the virus’ primary victims.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recently released their report, “Children: The Hidden Pandemic 2021.”

Additionally, CAFO (Christian Alliance for Orphans) held its conference in September, where the increasing needs of Orphans were highlighted.  You can read their article in its entirety here.

CCTI Seeks Ways to Help with Caring for Orphans

Also discussed was the increase in Foster Care as a result of the pandemic, which CCTI also highlighted in our May edition of the Barnabas Letter. We are finding the need to be on our knees in prayer for the many ways COVID has affected all of our lives. Let us please not forget God’s precious children as we seek Him.
